Business Litigation

The firm is perhaps best known for its civil litigation practice, representing small businesses, lenders and religious institutions in all aspects of commercial and contract disputes. The firm’s general litigation group also represents individuals in varying civil matters and has a very active appellate practice. Members of the firm have substantial experience in arbitrations and administrative proceedings before boards and agencies at all levels. The firm is routinely engaged by other attorneys to provide co-representation in cases of public interest.

Corporate/Commercial Law

The firm's corporate/commercial group represents a wide variety of business organizations in all forms of corporate transactions.  The firm’s practice areas include: franchise and licensing; contract negotiation and litigation; dispute resolution; business formation, reorganization and dissolution; corporate and business counseling; mergers and acquisitions; and debt financing.  Also, the firm represents nationally-known lenders and title companies in litigation and commercial closings.

Governmental Law

The firm's governmental law group provides representation to counties, municipalities and other governmental entities in the areas of ad valorem property tax appeals; condemnation; procurement and construction; employment; insurance defense and self-insurance; and tort defense litigation.  The firm also provides counsel in drafting of ordinances, charters and laws and on environmental issues.

Design/Construction Law

The firm's design/construction law group provides representation in all phases of design and construction projects, including:  bidding; contract negotiation; mechanic’s liens and bond claims; litigation; and dispute resolution.  The firm provides representation in the public and privation sectors to developers; owners; design and engineering professionals; and contractors and subcontractors.

Criminal Defense

The firm’s criminal defense group provides representation to individuals and businesses accused of civil and criminal violations. In addition to the firm’s established felony and misdemeanor practice, the firm provides representation to individuals and corporate clients in responding to grand jury subpoenas and other investigative demands; internal corporate investigations; identifying and monitoring areas of potential civil and criminal exposure.  The firm also provides representation in the area of mortgage fraud.

Estate Planning

The firm's estate planning group provides assistance to clients in the planning of wills, trusts, estates and guardianships.  Members of the firm work with financial investment advisors and other professionals to assist in providing financial security for our clients. The firm also represents various charitable organizations on such matters as donations and deferred giving techniques.
